The Road to a Perfect Fitting Baseball Cap

Finding a baseball cap that actually fits shouldn’t be this hard.

Most baseball caps — or dad caps, depending on what you call them — come in one so-called standard size. And while that works for some people, for many others it simply doesn’t. I'm one of them.

Standard-size baseball caps often sit too low, fall over the ears, or feel bulky. They don’t contour to your head properly. That’s frustrating — especially when you wear a cap not just as a style choice, but as a practical essential. I use caps to protect my face and head from the sun: when I’m cycling, traveling, sitting on a terrace, or just enjoying summer.

The best-fitting baseball cap I ever owned came from an unexpected place — a now-closed Dutch department store, Vroom & Dreesman. It was a khaki low-profile cap that my brother passed down to me. It fit like nothing else. No bulk, no awkward gaps. Naturally, that cap wore out. And when I tried to find a replacement? Nothing came close.

That’s when I started digging.

Online forums, friends, family — all confirmed the same thing: finding a well-fitting baseball cap, especially for smaller heads, is nearly impossible. Even the so-called low-profile baseball caps often miss the mark. Either the crown is still too deep, or the brim is too wide for your face. The fit is always off, in one way or another.

So I decided to do something about it.

I founded ZUIZ: a cap brand designed around real fit. Our caps come in three distinct sizes — Small, Medium, and Large — because one size doesn’t fit all. Size Large aligns with the average “standard” cap. Sizes Medium and Small are each slightly shorter in crown height, and the brim is proportionally adjusted for better balance.

The result? A cap that actually fits — whether you have a smaller head, prefer a less bulky profile, or just want something that feels considered.

No more adjusting. No more compromises. Just a clean, timeless cap — built to fit you.
